Artificial Intelligence (AI) is classifed by Melcre Pictures Media to be 1.) Generative AI, 2.) Modification AI, and 3.) Assistance AI.
Generative AI models are those which create text, images, video, music, or other material based on a training dataset based on a prompt inputted by a user. Models as such are consequential as the datasets they are based on may include pieces made by talented people, some of which painstakingly putting together their work of art through long periods of time. These models are inherently an offense to those artists and creators, and as such are prohibited at Melcre Pictures Media. An exception is for in cases of restoration of damaged Melcre-owned video or audio.
Modification AI models are those which modify Melcre-owned video and audio which are created in house. Commonly used models are voice-morphs where a performer gives a performance and a modification AI could be used to change the pitch of their voice or make it sound more like another person. AI like this is being phased out for more diverse performers. Usage of these models must be disclosed to the performer at the beginning of their time on the production. Modification AI is not permitted on artwork.
Assistance AI models are those used to lessen the load of non-production activities such as archiving, data gathering, or scheduling. A human must be using the AI to assist them in their duties, and not allow the AI to make it's own decisions.
Created by Humans is a certification program given exclusively by Melcre Pictures Media for Audio/Visual content to allow transparency on whether a form of content was created by AI. A stamp of certification is given based on the amount of AI is in the content, and assets are to be provided to Melcre Pictures Media for examination to find uses of AI. Melcre hopes to expand this stamp beyond Melcre and help people know that the content they are consuming is made by people or by AI.
